There will be BBQ. You can't talk about Texas without talking barbecue.
Of course, chili is the state food. That's pretty normal I guess, after all Texas has as many chili-cook offs as it does barbecue joints. But that seems to be the difference. You don't often go to a restaurant here to order chili, but you do go to get BBQ. I'll probably review the best of both eventually.
But speaking of official state symbols (like chili) as proud as Texans are, a majority of them probably couldn't tell you the name of the state song (Texas, Our Texas) and a majority of those who could, probably couldn't recite the lyrics. And I bet less than 1 in 100 Texans know the Texas pledge of allegiance.
Anyway, in things that matter our flower is the bluebonnet, the mockingbird is the state bird, and rodeo is the state sport. Personally, I think High School football should be the state sport.
And I'll really get this blog going soon.
